Red Roof Inn Wheelersburg

Look, this is NOT a Ritz Carlton, BUT they allow dogs, and we travel with ours. The room was fairly clean, good-sized, and we were put on the back end where there was grass for my dog. The breakfast provided was yogurt, bananas, and frozen breakfast sandwiches. The staff was friendly and they provided good service. The ONLY thing that I would suggest is that they hire a night shift so that people that arrive late like we did don't have to call to get a room.

I was a little disrespectful when I came the first time because id got prices from the internet, well, let's just say not even close, and after checking 4 places i came back, the man was kind to me and didn't have to be, gave me a discount, and was very professional and I didn't deserve it, truly

My experience was a lot like what others are saying. It's not the best thing ever–it's a motel–but nothing about it is bad. The biggest thing is everything is clean, clean, CLEAN. Even though the blankets and towels might have the occasional small hole (smaller than a dime), they are all 100% clean so it's not a worry. The beds are nice and clean. The bathroom was *gorgeous*, that was a 10/10, it wouldn't be out of place at a fancy hotel. Hot water was always available, we were given fresh towels constantly, it has built in shampoo and lotion. It's a bit of a commute (20 minutes) if you're actually wanting to go to Portsmouth, that was probably the biggest draw back. The man at the front desk was nice and pretty easily accessible by phone. We also got a late checkout for $20. It's pretty clear the people that work here care about maximizing and maintaining the resources they have. The pool was out of service but personally I wasn't worried about that. The "breakfast" was pretty underwhelming, just bananas and yogurt and it also closes at 9am. The A/C worked but it had odd cycling patterns. Be prepared to have to deal with dogs barking (this was barely an issue for me but I did encounter it and I've read that it has been worse for others). This place is the king of 'good not great', but if there's one area where it's great, it's cleanliness.

The was a great place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The front desk was nice and professional. The room bathroom was was clean and everything worked properly. The bed was great, not to soft and not to hard and was made up for me every day. Once I figured out how to work the TV remote there was HBO, and Starz. Only thing I didn't like, which I have this issue with all motels and hotels, is the baby size bars of soap. So I recommend bringing your own.

Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and this is one of the first non-smoking rooms that actually didn't have a slight smell of smoke. Room was quiet other than a few parking lot sounds here and there. 5 stars for the price and for being pet friendly.

I always make it a point to stay at this motel whenever I am in the area (even Charleston, West Virginia). The rooms are all you can ask for and the Cable TV is awesome! I person that is on the road all the time-really needs that! Many channels-including METV & other "oldies" channels. Subway Sandwich and Sakura Hibachi are very conveniently located right nearly. Pizza Hut-right up the road. The motel was built very well (can't hardly hear the people over you-or in the next room). Also very important! I'll definitely be back (again & again)!

I’ve been staying at this location for a couple months due to working for the railroad, and the owners of this hotel have went above and beyond any time I’ve ever had an issue! My ac unit stopped blowing cold and within minutes he had a new unit at my door! The rooms are always clean and the pool is beautiful! My son and nephew have came to work with me and have swam during the day and they were walking distance to a few different food locations! The new owners have been second to none and have made this location feel like a second home!

GREAT MOTEL !!! We had a family reunion in July '24 & Paul took care of EVERYTHING, the reservations, 3 rooms, 3 nights, lower level --- No problems !!! All three of our parties agreed that the rooms were clean, green (less plastic individual soaps & shampoo bottles) and quiet. They have comfortable double queen or king beds, they're a great value. We have stayed here in the past and it's always been consistent, we enjoyed another very nice stay --- we did indeed !!! Again, thank you Paul, Dannie & Beverly Summers
